Infielder Miguel Tejada has been suspended from 105 games because the use of prohibited drugs, the office of Commissioner Bud Selig announced on Saturday. Tejada was suspended after he tested positive for amphetamine. His suspension begins immediately.

The Kansas City Royals player explained to ESPNDeportes.com that the positive result occurred because of his using Adderall to treat his attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. He also declared Major League Baseball gave him permission to use the drug, but the permission expired on April 15. He said, “I admit I committed an error, but I want people to understand one thing: I was not taking any drugs to have an advantage on the field.”
