IRS official apologizes for video

An IRS official denies breaking any rules regarding the planning of a 2010 conference currently under investigation for wasteful spending. However, he recognized the video parodies and other lavish purchases shouldn’t have occurred. Faris Fink, the IRS official who starred in one of the videos said, “It’s embarrassing, and I apologize.”

He explained that while the rules and regulations of today’s IRS would have prevented this kind of spending, the IRS policies were different at the time of the conference. He further indicated that some of the spending was inappropriate. “In hindsight, many of the expenses that were incurred at the 2010 conference should be been more closely scrutinized or not incurred at all.”
