SAT cheating scam uncovered, 7 arrested

Seven people have been arrested in an SAT cheating scam at a high school in Long Island, New York. Samuel Eshaghoff, 19, was arrested on felony fraud charges. Six other students face misdemeanors. Eshaghoff impersonated students , charging betweent $1,500 and $2,500 to take the SAT for them. He would go to other schools where proctors wouldn’t recognize the students and present fake identification.

The scam was uncovered after test scores were compared to suspects’ grade-point-averages, and noticing a wide discrepancy. Eshaghoff has not pled guilty. Authorities are investigating whether the cheating extended to other schools.
