A gunman opened fire Wednesday in a full salon in Orange County, in the most violent crime in the small town’s memory. Eight people were dead following the shooting, with another in critical condition. Police arrested 42-year-old Scott Dekraai near the scene, but did not release a motive. Friends of the salon owner indicated that Dekraai was the ex-husband of one of the stylists.
Michelle Dekraai had been involved in dispute with her ex-husband over the custody of their son, according to Kari Salveson, longtime patron of the salon. The names of the victims in the shooting have not yet been released.
