Stabbing suspect shot by Annapolis police

Annapolis police shot and killed a stabbing suspect after being called to a residence Tuesday.

Police Chief Michael Pristoop stated that a call was made to the precinct after “Neighbors heard a fight, heard some screaming…it was apparent that a man was beating a woman.”  In the one minute it took for the police to arrive, it was too late for the 29-year-old victim Ronnesha Simms.

Upon their arrival, Simms was on the ground screaming from her severe stab wounds.  The 31-year-old suspect, William Brown, came outside with a knife still in his hands, and stabbed Simms one more time in front of police before he was shot at least five times.

Brown was no stranger to Annapolis police.  “We are familiar with Mr. Brown we have arrested him a number of times,” Pristoop says.  Brown was the father of one of Simms children, and two children were present at the time of the attack.

Simms was pronounced dead after arriving at Anne Arundel Medical Center.  The cause of death was multiple stab wounds.

The officer who shot and killed Brown is now on administrative leave pending further investigation.
