MD utility company prepares for outages

0

Early Monday morning, hundreds of utility workers from Baltimore Gas and Electric gathered at a staging station near BWI-Thurgood Marshall Airport in Maryland. Breakfast was served as employees prepare for widespread outages as Hurricane Sandy moves into the area Monday and Tuesday. There were crews volunteering from out-of-state, as well as local workers who will coordinate to cover neighborhoods affected by power outages as quickly and safely as possible.

John Murach, logistics site manager for BGE, credits the arrival of volunteer crews to a long track record of utility companies helping one another out during emergencies.
