Maryland officials hold hearings on utilities’ performance

The Maryland Public Service Commission will hold the first of a string of public hearings on Tuesday night to hear comments on the performance of four major utility companies following the derecho storm that occurred on June 29, the commission posted on its Web site.

The first public hearing will be from Pepco’s customers. Pepco’s customers who lost power during the powerful storm are more dissatisfied than customers of other major utility companies. Consumers of Baltimore Gas and Electric Company, Potomac Electric Power Company, The Potomac Edison Company, and Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative, Inc., will also have opportunities to comment in subsequent hearings scheduled through September.
