Maryland high school strives to change reputation

Students, families, and faculty at Montgomery County’s Albert Einstein High School are concerned with the school’s negative reputation. After a string of incidents in 2008, many area students nicknamed the school Crimestein, a moniker rejected by community members who say safety as well as grades have greatly improved.
A negatively charged reputation can hurt students and teachers alike, and principal James Fernandez is determined to turn that reputation around. He efforts have been noted–students and parents have nothing but good things to say about his programs and support systems.
