Lawsuit cites negligence in inmate suicide

0

Negligence is deemed an alleged factor in the suicides of three jail inmates.

The Washington law firm of Bode and Grenier filed a lawsuit against Frederick County immigration enforcement concerning the suicide of Valerie Ann Miller in October 2010.

The lawsuit pins negligence as an aspect in Miller’s death in which she used a bed sheet to hang herself.  According to the claim her cell was not properly monitored.

Due to the vast amount of inmates being housed in the federal immigration facility the lawsuit also claims that the staff-to-inmate ratio is inadequate.

There are two other lawsuits of the same nature pending from inmate suicides in 2009 and 2010.
