KKK meeting permitted in Cecil County building

Authorities in Cecil County have cited the First Amendment in the reasoning to allow a Klu Klux Klan meeting to be held in a county building.

The confederate White Knights of Rosedale, Maryland have a meeting scheduled in Elkton at the county administration building Friday night.

The administration director, Al Wein, says that allowing them to use the facility is only fair under the First Amendment which protects free speech and the right to assemble.  He says that allowing them to use the building does not mean the county is in support of the group or its message.

The White Knights allow only white, American-born heterosexuals to join.  However, Muslims and Jews are not candidates for membership.

County Commissioners President Robert Hodge is dissuading people from attending the meeting.
