Howard County bans sugary drinks on its property

Sodas and other sugary drinks are now banned on Howard County property. The Maryland county has previously banned soda in elementary schools, and vending machines in high schools must contain at least 50% non-soda options, although this newest restriction will not affect schools. Officials say the goal is to set an example and lower childhood obesity rates by demonstrating healthier choices and recognizing health concerns.
