1 Killed in I-70 head-on crash

On Sunday night, a man was killed as a result of a head-on collision on Interstate 70 near the Pennsylvania border around 8:30 p.m. According to Maryland State Police, the crash happened west of the one-mile marker on I-70 eastbound. Larry Martz, of Pennsylvania, driving west in the eastbound lanes, collided with head-on with a vehicle driven by Brian Chatfield, 27, of North Carolina. Martz was flown to a hospital and later died. Chatfield and two passengers, Clarence Hobbs, 44 of Newark, Del., and Joshua Walls, 25, of Baltimore, suffered minor injuries. They were treated at the scene and released.
