Site of Paul Walker’s death attractive to street racers

Legendary “Fast & Furious” actor Paul Walker died in a single-car crash Saturday in an area officials are now saying is known for street racing.

Walker and friend Roger Rodas were killed when the 2005 Porsche Carrera GT they were driving crashed and then caught fire.

Although there is no evidence indicating that they were racing another car, authorities confirmed that the isolated road they were traveling on is notoriously appealing to street-racers.

California Highway Patrol Sgt. Rick Miller said, “It’s well-known out here that that’s a hot spot for street racers…It’s a long stretch where, on weekends, businesses are all closed and they feel like nobody’s going to bother them up there.”

Speed is a known factor in the crash that killed Walker, 40, and Rodas, 38, who was a professional driver.

Fans gathered at the crash site on Monday to pay their condolences.
