California-born singer Jenni Rivera has apparently died in an plane crash in Nuevo León state in northern México. . The crash also killed six of her friends and coworkers. The wreckage of the Learjet 25 was little more than fragments of metal due to the force of impact when it hit the ground. Although her death was not immediately confirmed, her family had no doubts when they first received the news of the crash.
“My son Lupillo told me that effectively it was Jenni’s plane that crashed and that everyone on board died,” her father, Pedro Rivera, told reporters in front of his home near Los Angeles. “I believe my daughter’s body is unrecognizable.”
Transportation and Communications Minister Gerardo Ruiz Esparza has said “everything points toward” the wreckage belonging to the plane carrying Rivera and six other people to Toluca. “There is nothing recognizable, neither material nor human,” said Esparaza, adding that the wreckage of the plane was “scattered over an area of 250 to 300 meters. It is almost unrecognizable.”
