Top sports journalist Christine Brennan has announced to the team and the NFL that she will no longer use the name “Redskins” in her reporting.

She says, “This is a personal decision.”

Brennan who covered the team from 1985 to 1987 for The Washington Post claims that using the name has always bothered her. She questions, “How do you explain this name to a child?”

Brennan who now writes for USA TODAY shares and supports Sports Illustrated writer Peter King’s decision to no longer use the name.
