Colombian musician Juanes will headline a special concert as part of the International AIDS Conference in Washington D.C. He hopes to motivate political leaders to keep fighting against the disease. The 39-year-old Grammy award-winning singer said Thursday that HIV-positive people “are stigmatized, rejected by society, and I think this is the moment to change the understanding of AIDS and how it should be treated and prevented.” Juanes encouraged leaders to “continue supporting the cause” so that one day a cure can be found.

The “La Camisa Negra” singer created the Mi Sangre foundation in 2006. The charity provides social services to children victims of Colombia’s violence.
