It was announced on Tuesday that Disney has purchased Lucasfilms, the independent production company responsible for the blockbuster series “Star Wars,” for $4 billion. On the heels of that same announcement came a statement that Disney plans to release a new Star Wars triology; Star Wars episodes 7, 8, and 9. In addition, Disney plans to release an additional Star Wars movie every two to three years, much like the James Bond series. Star Wars enthusiasts are cautiously optimistic. The triology of prequels to the original three part series garnered sore disappointment from fans and critics alike. With new owners of the franchise comes new possibilities. Only time will tell whether those possibilities will revive or further dampen the movie series.
