Joan Rivers dies at 81

Joan Rivers died today at the age of 81.

Rivers was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital, Manhattan, after she stopped breathing during a procedure at a doctor’s office, Thursday, Aug. 28. It was confirmed that she went into cardiac arrest and was unresponsive until she passed away at 1:17 p.m., Thursday.

Rivers was moved from the intensive care unit to a private room on Wednesday, where she died surrounded by family and close friends, says daughter Melissa Rivers.

Rivers enjoyed a long and busy career, most recently as host of “Fashion Police” on the E! network and co-star of the WEtv reality show, “Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best”.
