Verizon posts $5.07 billion for 4Q

Verizon posted a fourth-quarter net income of $5.07 billion after adding more wireless devices to their network. Beating Wall Street expectations, the largest cellphone carrier’s profit amounted to $1.76 per share. Verizon lost $4.23 billion, or $1.48 per share, in the year-ago period. The company’s revenue rose 3 percent to $31.07 billion, after polls estimated a profit of 62 cents per share on $31.04 billion in revenue. Verizon’s service revenue rose 8 percent while the company added 1.7 million net retail wireless connections during the quarter. Shares of Verizon Communications Inc. rose 45 cents to $48.80 in premarketing trading an hour before the market opening.
