The Guardian wins limited injunction

The Guardian newspaper won a limited injunction on Thursday against the British government for protecting belongings taken from the partner of Glenn Greenwald, a journalist who wrote stories connected to NSA leaker Edward Snowden. The partner, David Miranda, was arrested earlier this week. His lawyers declared the items contained confidential information and asked the High Court to stop the government from “inspecting, copying or sharing” the information.

Miranda was granted the order but will not be able to stop the government in cases of “national security.” The injunction is scheduled to run until August 30.
