School employee talks down gunman

No injuries were reported on Tuesday after a shooter entered Ronald E. McNair Discovery Learning Academy nearby Atlanta, Georgia because employee Antoinette Tuff talked down the gunman. Tuff acted as a go-between for the suspect and police, speaking kindly to the gunman and offering to walk outside with him. Suspect Michael Brandon Hill was taken into custody.

DeKalb County Police Chief Cedric Alexander later said the gunman had around 500 rounds of ammunition and was “not mentally stable.” He said, “She was in there, she was able to talk him down. Had that not been the case, this could have certainly turned into something very, very ugly very quickly.”
