Manning to serve prison sentence at Leavenworth

0

After being sentenced to 35 years in prison for leaking classified documents to WikiLeaks, Bradley Manning is headed to Fort Leavenworth, home to the American military’s most famous prison.

Over time, the Army penitentiary has shed its imposing stone edifice, but inside the compound, Manning will discover a dreary and unchanging environment. Inmates are highly restricted, graveyard work shifts are common, and jobs pay mere pennies per hour.

The judge did not say where Manning would be serving his time, but his attorney confirmed that he was going there.

Already, Manning has spent time in Leavenworth among the military’s worst criminals.
