The U.S. Department of Justice has reportedly filed suit in a federal court to block AT&T’s proposed takeover of T-Mobile USA. The deal between AT&T and T-Mobile was valued at$39 billion but the Department of Justice stepped in, stating that it “substantially lessens the competition.”
The Federal Communications Commission is the only agency required to approve the merger. It is believed that the involvement by the Department of Justice will heavily influence the decision by the FCC.
