A 6.8 magnitude earthquake hit Alaska early Friday morning, rocking the Aleutian Islands and forcing a tsunami warning. The earthquake, common in the islands because of their location on the Pacific Ring of Fire, none-the-less scared residents.
The tsunami warning lifted after only a small wave came on shore. “[It was a] little bump of a wave, but nothing of any kind of a destructive power. Just a wave,” said Jeremy Zidek, a spokesman for the Alaska Department of Homeland Security.
