Steven Paines, 66, was arrested on Halloween night in Severn, Maryland, after allegedly licking the ear of a child who was trick-or-treating, following her home, and pulling a gun on her mother. According to Anne Arundel County Police, the mother said that her daughter ran home after Paines licked her ear. Paines allegedly then followed her home and tried to enter their residence before the child’s mother pushed him back to stop him from entering. The mother said he then pulled out a handgun and pulled the trigger. The weapon did not fire and he returned to his home where he was arrested.
Officers searched his home and found ammunition, a rifle, a shotgun, and two handguns. Paines has been charged with first-degree assault and weapons violations.
