Record lows as whole country freezes

Freezing temperatures were reported in all 50 U.S. states Tuesday, including Hawaii. Several feet of snow have fallen on western New York, where at least five people have died from complications related to the weather. In D.C. Wednesday, temperatures at Dulles and BWI dropped to record-breaking lows for November 19. Morning temperatures at Dulles reached only 14 degrees, 6 degrees lower than 1990’s record of 20 degrees. BWI broke a 1936 record of 20 degrees by one degree, reaching only 19 degrees this morning. D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray declared a cold-weather emergency Tuesday to allow additional powers to help residents and homeless in the cold. Warming centers began opening Tuesday night.
