Investigation reveals U.S. knowledge about Doctors Without Borders site before bombing

Investigations into a United States airstrike of a Doctors Without Borders hospital in Afghanistan revealed that the U.S. did have initial knowledge of the hospital site. Officials state that the organization informed the government and that the hospital¬†“was in the military database” of sites including mosques and schools supposedly safe from airstrikes. However, officials also say that that information was not passed on to correct military personnel.¬†“There is nothing to indicate the people who made the ultimate decision to pull the trigger knew it was a hospital,” one of the officials said.
