A cold snap, derived from the Mediterranean Sea, has caused brutal cold and deep snows in the eastern part of Europe, which has already left at least 300 people dead. The Ukraine has suffered one of the hardest hits with 135 people dead and about 2,000 hospitalized. The city of Kiev alone has more than 14, 000 homeless people, who are the most vulnerable. It is reported that authorities have set up an emergency hospital and distributed 3,000 emergency relief tents throughout the country. The tents are heated and can supply hot food and beverages.

While southeastern Europe will continue to experience heavy snow, all of Europe will experience below average temperatures. CNN meteorologist Taylor Ward said, “All of Europe will be well below normal, 10-15 degrees below normal.” The severe cold weather is projected to continue all week.
