Iran will not return US drone

Iran says it will not return the U.S. surveillance drone it claims to have captured, according to a senior commander of the Revolutionary Guard. Gen. Hossein Salami called the drone a violation of Iran’s airspace. “No nation welcomes other countries’ spy drones in its territory, and no one sends back the spying equipment and its information back to the country of origin,” Salami said.

U.S. officials confirmed that an American drone had gone missing, part of a CIA reconnaissance mission in Afghanistan. They did not confirm if the drone the Iranians have is the one in question. They did say they believe it was downed due to a malfunction, and was not shot down or attacked with electronic or cybertechnology.
