Gunmen occupy Libyan parliament building

Members of the revolutionary militia who freed Libya from the control of Gaddafi have once again taken up arms in the name of their country’s defense. Armed gunmen are now occupying the parliament building in protest of some of the newly selected ministers, who they say have ties to the Gaddafi regime. Libya held a peaceful election in July and was finally able to form a cohesive government on Wednesday. Prime Minister Ali Zidan chose both liberal and Islamist ministers in an effort to form an inclusive and balanced coalition. However it is specifically the ministers who allegedly served Gaddafi that the demonstrators are protesting, and protesting very adamantly. The main road to the parliament building is reportedly lined with a dozen trucks with anti aircraft weapons mounted on them. Presidential guards are stationed at the Congressional complex and are under orders not to fight with the revolutionaries. Reports say the militia and certain politicians are keeping a dialogue to resolve the situation peacefully.
