Smithsonian director interested in Trayvon Martin hoodie

The director of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture is reportedly interested in obtaining a hoodie worn by Trayvon Martin to add to the museum’s collection.

Museum director Lonnie Bunch said the hoodie – worn by Martin when he was shot and killed by George Zimmerman – would allow for a continuation of the discussion of race in America.

“Because it’s such a symbol, it would allow you to talk about race in the age of Obama,” Bunch said.

Once the legal questions surrounding the case are settled, Bunch says she would like to obtain the hoodie.
