Senate confrims first Native American woman as Federal judge

Diane Humetewa made history on Wednesday night when she became the first Native American woman to be a federal judge. Humetewa was confirmed to serve on the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona. She formerly worked as U.S. attorney in Arizona and is a member of the Hopi tribe. Humetewa is now the first active member of a Native American tribe to serve on the federal bench.
