Redskins defeat Cowboys on Thanksgiving

Redskins fans definitely had something to be thankful for this Thanksgiving after a 38-31 win over longtime rivals, the Dallas Cowboys. The Redskins went into the game as underdogs–Dallas had the home field advantage, a better record so far this season, and have won Thanksgiving games for six years running–but pulled ahead quickly with a 28-3 lead at halftime. Rookie star Robert Griffin III threw for 311 yards, and four touchdowns, including a beautiful 68-yard pass to Aldrick Robinson. Santana Moss, Pierre Garcon, and DeAngelo Hall also stood out with scoring punt returns, interceptions, and great catches.

The early lead soon became tenuous, as Redskins fans braced themselves for disappointment–the Redskins have not defeated the Cowboys in Thanksgiving in seven games–after Tony Romo threw a career record 85-yard touchdown pass to Dez Bryant, and deftly led the Cowboys within touchdown range in the 4th quarter. RGIII held them off with a long, time running, drive up field, and finally reversed tradition to emerge victorious in his first NFL showdown in Texas.

The high scoring, high tension game was a great end to the holiday.
