President Obama to deliver speech to Air Force graduates in Colorado

After returning from a NATO summit in Chicago and a high school commencement ceremony in Joplin, Missouri, President Barack Obama will deliver the commencement address at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado, his annual speech to service academy graduates. The president will speak on Wednesday in Colorado Springs, days after concluding a G8 summit at Camp David in Maryland and a NATO summit in Chicago, where the U.S. and its allies firmed up plans for a responsible withdrawal from Afghanistan.

President Obama has used service academy speeches in the past to address the role of the military in protecting American interests in an age of war and terrorism. Since Obama’s inauguration in 2009, he has delivered commencement addresses at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in New York, and the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut.
