As the city that never sleeps celebrated the Giants’ Super Bowl win against the Patriots with a huge parade, veterans were questioning why no one has organized a parade in their honor for their service to the U.S. A former captain in the Marine Corps with Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, Tim Kudo said, “It’s kind of strange that the Giants would get a parade and our veterans wouldn’t.” The Pentagon reported that it would not be appropriate for such a celebration at the time because there are Americans who remain fighting in Afghanistan.
In January, the city of St. Louis held a parade for the military veterans, but no other major city has followed. Kudo believes the service of veterans deserves acknowledgment.
