Occupy D.C. must come to an end

Beginning on Monday at noon, U.S. Park Police will enforce a no-camping rule at the two sites where Occupy protestors have been demonstrating for months. Protestors at Freedom Plaza and McPherson Square have been advised to leave the property or they will be subject to arrest.

The cause for the evacuation of the protestors from the parks came after a House oversight subcommittee hearing last week. Republican lawmakers questioned why the protestors were allowed to camp on federal land for months at a time. Jonathan Jarvis, the Nation Park Service Director, said protestors will be encouraged to sleep off grounds, but they have a right to be in the park and will not be evicted.
