Natalie Cole performs at Kennedy Center honoring Martin Luther King

The Kennedy Center and Georgetown University are honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday with a free concert featuring Natalie Cole. Cole’s career in the music industry spans more than four decades. The daughter of music legend Nat King Cole, she has won nine Grammy Awards, three American Music Awards, two NAACP Image Awards, one Songwriters Hall of Fame award, and one George and Ira Gershwin Award. Her biggest hits include: “This Will Be (An Everlasting Love),” ”Unforgettable” and “When I Fall in Love.” Cole will be backed by the Let Freedom Ring Choir, led by music director Rev. Nolan Williams Jr., pastor of the Metropolitan Baptist Church. The concert is free, but tickets are required to get in. Tickets will be distributed on a first-come- first-serve basis beginning at 5:00 p.m. Georgetown will also present its annual John Thompson Jr. Legacy of a Dream Award to George Jones, the CEO of Bread for the City.
