In a report by the “Washington Post,” the District of Columbia mayor’s office is now requiring that all staff sign nondisclosure agreements which would keep them from discussing possible cost-saving and money-raising measures. According to the Washington Post, approximately 100 employees received the forms.
Linda Wharton, a spokeswoman for the mayor, said that the agreements uphold “the creative exchange of ideas,” while Brian Flowers, general counsel to Mayor Vincent Gray, admitted that he wouldn’t have recommended the agreements had he known about them before. As part of his campaign, Mayor Gray ensured a more transparent District government.
