A D.C. jail inmate has been found dead in an apparent suicide.
The death of 53-year-old Mike Johnson of Washington appears to have been the fourth suicide since November at the facility. Johnson’s death comes about a month after Corrections Department chief Tom Faust announced that his office is reviewing policies to make sure all resources are available to prevent future suicides.
The department says that Johnson hung himself in his cell and after resuscitation efforts, was taken to Prince George’s Hospital Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Johnson was charged with first-degree sexual abuse while armed and was sent to jail in December.
