Former mayoral candidate for D.C. condemns corruption

Sulaimon Brown, the man who triggered the investigation of campaign spending among public officials in the District of Columbia, is reportedly celebrating the resignation of former D.C. Council Chairman Kwame Brown, who was charged with a misdemeanor for a campaign finance violation and federal bank fraud. The one-time mayoral candidate issued a statement on Saturday saying Kwame Brown is a “crook” along with other elected leaders in D.C.

Two former aides of Mayor Vincent Gray pleaded guilty last month to charges from the 2010 mayoral race. One aide confessed to investigators about donations to Sulaimon Brown. The other admitted to funneling money to keep the candidate in the race and attacking incumbent Adrian Fenty.
