The candidates for the D.C. mayor election are trying to show strength before their fundraising deadline.

On Wednesday, the first campaign finance reports for next year’s race are due.

There are currently five individuals who have declared their candidacy: D.C. councilmembers Muriel Bowser, Jack Evans and Tommy Wells; former State Department official Reta Lewis; and businessman Christian Carter. All are Democrats.

The primary is on April 1.

Mayor Vincent Gray has not yet said whether he will run for reelection. His 2010 campaign is currently under a federal investigation, and three former aides of his have pled guilty to felonies.
