Several generous donations have been collected in response to the theft at a Salvation Army office in Southeast D.C.

The robbery took place Sunday at the Solomon G. Brown Corps Center, and the burglars made off with about $10,000 worth of Red Kettle donations.

Since then, donations have covered the loss and more.  Amongst a few, the Claude Moore Charitable Foundation donated $10,000, Wal-Mart donated $15,000 and attorney Tom Goldsten donated $10,000.

Commander of the Salvation Army National Capital Area Command, Lewis Reckline said, “It is great to see the response.  It is certainly satisfying for us.”

Police are continuing their investigation into the robbery.
