The DC Taxi Cab Commission is considering a proposal to allow cab drivers to charge an extra fee for multiple passengers on inauguration weekend. The fee, $1 for every additional passenger, is intended to encourage cab drivers to work throughout the weekend and to offer service to less densely packed areas of the city as well as downtown. Similar fees were added during the Nationals playoff season.
This will be the first time extra fees were allowed during an inauguration. The commission is planning to make a decision based on several factors including how many days the city will see increased visitor traffic.
