A D.C. fire department says seven construction workers have gotten sick due to carbon monoxide. The workers have been sent to area hospitals.

Fire department spokesman Lon Walls says 10 people were working at the National Press Building on Monday night and were affected by the fumes. The construction workers were removing asbestos from the building.

Six of those taken to the hospital are in relatively good condition. The seventh is more seriously affected, but is expected to survive.
