A report from the deputy mayor reported that 3 ambulances were available for a seriously injured officer on March 5th. The police officer suffered from leg injuries due to being hit by a car and had to wait over 15 minutes for an ambulance to arrive.

Reports show that 3 ambulances were improperly out of service the night of the accident. Each was within 4 miles of the incident. D.C. has 39 ambulances, and on the night of the accident, 30 were responding to calls. Another 6 were out of service for valid reasons.

Seven employees have been disciplined for their lack of response. Protocols have also been established to prevent problems in the future.
