Virginia to receive federal funding for Sandy clean-up

Obama has declared a federal emergency zone for parts of Virginia hit by Hurricane Sandy. Gov. Bob McDonnell had asked for federal assistance last month. The president’s declaration will allow federal funding to help local governments and designated non-profit organizations fund repairs and emergency relief projects. Areas included are the cities of Fairfax, Falls Church and Manassas, and the following counties: Accomack, Arlington, Clarke, Craig, Culpeper, Essex, Fauquier, Frederick, Greene, Highland, King and Queen, Lancaster, Loudoun, Madison, Mathews, Middlesex, Nelson, Northampton, Northumberland, Prince William, Rappahannock, Shenandoah, Surry, Warren and Westmoreland.
