Virginia’s Coastal Zone Management Program will continue under a new governor’s executive order until 2018. The program, which involves a network of both state agencies and local governments is designed to protect the coastline for environmental and economic prosperity. The lead agency is the Department of Environmental Quality. The program works to improve water quality and create sustainable wild fisheries and other aquaculture. Governor McAuliffe signed the order Tuesday.
