A Virginia sheriff’s deputy accidentally shot his 16-year-old daughter on Tuesday after mistaking her for an intruder. Thirteen- year veteran, Easton McDonald, was getting ready for work around 3:30 am when his home alarm indicated a door had been opened. McDonald grabbed his personal handgun and when he seen a dark figure approach him, shot. McDonald thought his daughter was asleep upstairs, but she sneaked out earlier that night. The deputy crashed his car while trying to get her to the hospital. Emergency responders transported her for treatment at Winchester Medical Center. She was shot once in her torso and remains in stable condition. The Frederick County sheriff and Commonwealth’s Attorney will decide whether any charges should be filed.
