According to Dominion Virginia Power, the 5.9 magnitude earthquake that shook Virginia on Aug. 23 reportedly caused large nuclear storage containers at the North Anna Power Station to shift. Dominion Virginia Power stated that the quake moved 25 containers that store used fuel approximately one to 4.5 inches.

The nuclear storage containers remain intact and experts do not think it necessary to move the containers. The quake reportedly shut down both reactors at the North Anna Power station.
