Population growth in VA exceeds that of the nation

Virginia’s population continues to exceed the nation’s in terms of growth. Fairfax County, Virginia Beach, Covington, and Fredericksburg have seen massive influxes in recent years as relatively low unemployment and high medium incomes lure people to the state. University of Virginia’s Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service reports that Virginia’s population has increased by nearly double the percentage of population growth for the country since the 2010 census. Northern Virginia and the Richmond area account for much of the increase.
